When a child/teen/young adult is struggling and no one is quite sure why, a comprehensive evaluation provides answers. Dr. Marnee brings neuropsychological training and a bio-psycho-social approach to every evaluation. She looks at how your child’s brain learns and processes information, how they think and feel, and how home and school affect them. Families leave with a clear understanding of their child’s strengths and challenges and a practical plan for moving forward.

Neuropsychological and Neurodevelopmental Evaluations

The most comprehensive option. It examines how the brain is functioning across a wide range of abilities and is recommended for medical, neurological, and developmental concerns, as well as complex attention and learning questions. Testing takes approximately 10 hours.

Psychoeducational Evaluation

Focused on learning, attention, and academic functioning. It identifies learning disabilities and ADHD and provides recommendations for school accommodations and support. Many private schools with learning support programs require one for admission. Testing takes approximately 8 hours.

Gifted Evaluation

Determines whether a child meets the criteria for gifted services in Florida public schools. See details below.

College Documentation

Students who need accommodations in college or on standardized tests often need current documentation. Dr. Marnee provides documentation letters and update evaluations for students with prior diagnoses.

What Each Evaluation Includes

Intake session. Dr. Marnee meets with your family, in person or virtually, to understand current concerns, your child’s history, and your goals, and completes the paperwork to begin.

School observation (Age Depending). Dr. Marnee visits your child’s school, daycare, or other setting for an hour-long observation, including conversations with teachers, administrators, and other educators who know your child well.

Testing sessions. Each test is selected to fit your child’s age and the questions you need answered. Testing is spread across several shorter sessions rather than one or two long ones, so your child can do their best work. Your child can take breaks as needed.

Progress updates. After each testing session, Dr. Marnee shares brief verbal feedback on how testing went.

Written report and feedback session. You’ll receive a detailed written report, typically 15 to 25 pages or more, with results, interpretations, any diagnoses, and a clear action plan after the feedback session. The feedback session is in person or virtual.

Collaboration and follow-through. With your permission, Dr. Marnee shares findings with your child’s physicians and works with the school to put recommendations into practice, because a plan only helps if it’s used.

Gifted evaluation

A gifted evaluation determines whether a child meets the criteria for gifted services through Exceptional Student Education in Florida public schools. Children who qualify often benefit from a more challenging academic setting. Whether or not your child meets the criteria, the report also offers insight into their strengths and areas for growth.

The gifted evaluation includes:

A brief information form completed by the parent

An intelligence test (IQ), in a single appointment of about 1½ hours

Verbal feedback within 24 hours of testing

A written report within two weeks

As with all testing, your child can take breaks as needed, and should come well-rested and fed.
